Scratch coat first
The scored scratch coat provides the keyed surface for the next stage. DPM’s photographs record this stage before the final finish was applied.
Rendering is a staged external finish. The base layers create the surface that the final coat will cover, and the finished look only makes sense when the preparation is understood too.
